Introduction

The Templar is one of the two specialized classes available to the Warrior class once the player hits level 10. Templars are the true tanks of the game, designed to be able to dish out damage while using defensive and healing spells that allow them to take a beating it return.

The Templar class has a deep and rich history within the world of Atreia. The Templar order was created as an elite class of guards for the Tower of Eternity, and became the last line of defense against Balaur invasions during the Millenium War. As time went on, Templars became rallying points within armies, as their dedication to both offensive values and defending their team mates made them important parts of any army.

Ability

The Templar has a wide variety of skills and spells that allow them to not only heal allies, but to protect themselves in battle. Their healing spells are less effective at healing allies than the Priest, but no teammate will complain when a Templar heals them in the middle of a battle. Using chants and further spells, the Templar's greatest strength is imbuing themselves with buffs and defensive bonuses that can help reduce the amount of damage they take.

Templars also have skills that allow them to do large amounts of damage to Fortress shields, making them perfect classes for raids. Combined with a large amount of shield ability that allow the Templar to stun enemies and knock them to the ground, Templars are great for storming castles.

Because Templars need to be able to damage their opponent and protect themselves at the same time, most Templars opt to use a sword, shield and plate mail as their primary gear. Templars have access to a wide range of variety and weapons, such as axes or Greatswords, but these each have their own benefits and drawbacks, such as increased damage but complete lack of a shield when using a Greatsword.

Special Ability

The Templar also is one of the most protected classes when using the flight ability. Due to a range of skills that can be learned, Templars can increase their flying speed and time, and can receive defensive boosts that allow them to shrug off damage.

Solo Play

A Templar can succeed by choosing weapon sets based upon the situation it finds itself in. For example, in some cases the Templar can use greatswords. However, this is generally used when facing an enemy that can be dispatched quickly with a few solid blows.

In most situations the Templar utilizes a one-handed weapon and shield, in order to mitigate damage. This is due to the shield’s ability to reduce damage when an attack is blocked. Once a successful block has been made, the shield can then be used as a weapon itself through the use of chain skills. The effect these skills have can range from basic damage dealing to enmity increase, as well as possibly stunning the opponent.

Group Play

Templars excel in groups because they quite literally become a shield for the rest of their group. With the use of various taunts, they are able to keep the attention of an attacker while the rest of the group focuses on dispatching the enemy. A skilled Templar is able to control multiple foes with the use of its blocking skills and its ability to use area of effect taunts. With the use of marks, a group leader can also assign various tasks to other members of a group in order to make the Templar’s job that much easier.
